PHOTO EPISTLES #24-Ending the Drought

This photo and storms like this always remind me of  when I had just graduated from high school in the 70’s, I decided to take a break from school and work for a year before going to college. I always like working with my hands, so I got a construction job. Now, in Houston, Texas, the summer heat is brutal. Not only is it always around 100 degrees, but the humidity is always around 95%. Day in and day out I would work in these hot conditions. Then every few days I would see a small thunder head forming on the horizon. Pretty quickly that little storm would grow and march through our area dumping a ton of rain. I would just stand in the rain, work clothes and all with my face pointed towards Heaven and just get soaked. Those showers brought so much relief and refreshment. Many times i would ask God for rain relief and He would deliver. Then there were times, that no matter how much I asked God, No matter how many sweet deals I tried to make with God, NO RAIN. Eventually, usually after I had given up, cursed God and just resigned myself to the suffering conditions, He would bring so much rain, I would have to beg Him to stop:) I would soon learn that these hot spells also come in the form of trials of all types…financial, emotional, spiritual, etc. The proper Christian term to use is “drought”. It seems like there is always a lesson or two to be learned before God allows the drought to end. It’s like once you figure out what issue God is working on inside your heart and then you give it up to God. Not only is there increased freedom, but God opens the heavens up and showers His blessing down on you.

Please rejoice with me. This has happened to me and God is either ending a ten tear drought or is showering me with some temp relief. Either way, my face is turned towards Heaven and I’m enjoying His blessing of rain as I soak up His favor He has released on me. Please join me in giving thanks to God…THANK YOU JESUS!!!
