PHOTO EPISTLE #15 – LAUGHTER

As those who know me, know that I love a good laugh. Growing up, our house was filled with laughter much of the time as us kids would listen from other rooms as my mom and her friends would write scripts for TV shows and a few theater productions. My eyeballs would bolt open to the crack of loud laughter all the time as friends of my mom would be hanging out til the wee hours of the morning. Mom’s laughter is what I remember and love most from my childhood. Even this week, I was awakened to her laughter as she and my daughters were making silly fun about their coming weddings.

Dr. Richard Couey is one of the top authorities on the human blood cell. In fact, a number of recent medical textbooks on the blood have been written by him. His most recent research has revealed that the blood cell has these tiny hairs that open and close. These hairs are what capture the nutrients which feed our blood. What he has found is these hairs are open and extended the most when we are laughing. He even wrote a book called “The Happy Cell”. Medically, laughter has proven to boost the immune system and protect the heart, among other things.

Proverbs 15:13A happy heart makes the face cheerful, but heartache crushes the spirit.” Psalm 126:2Then our mouth was filled with laughterAnd our tongue with joyful shouting; Then they said among the nations,”The LORD has done great things for them.”NAS). The bible is full of writings about being happy and full of joy. My favorite drawing of Jesus is of him laughing by Ralph Kozak at http://www.jesuslaughing.com. Also, by looking at the many goofed Sunday church bulletins and signs, God clearly has a sense of humor. Here are a few of my favorites…Weight Watchers will meet a 7 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church. Please use large double door at the side entrance.:) Tuesday at 4:00 P.M. there will be an ice cream social. All ladies giving milk will please come early. 🙂 Next Sunday a special collection will be taken to defray the cost of the new carpet. All those wishing to do something on the carpet will come forward and do so. 🙂 A bean supper will be held on Tuesday evening in the church hall. Music will follow. 🙂 Don’t let worry kill you–let the church help.:) For those of you who have children and don’t know it, we have a nursery downstairs.:) and finally my wife’s favorite…”Ladies, don’t forget the rummage sale. It’s a chance to
get rid of those things not worth keeping around the house. Don’t forget your husbands.”
